TBA at the Translational Longevity Summit in Boston: International Partnership unites U.S. and Italian leadership in healthy longevity science — from prevention to public engagement — to extend the worldwide health span

Boston, MA (Newsworthy.ai) Friday Oct 2, 2026 @ 7:00 AM Eastern —

The Healthspan Action Coalition (HSAC) today announced a strategic international collaboration with a coalition of prominent Italian organizations, including Fondazione Bicocca, Italian Sources for Healthspan and Saturnia Healthy Longevity, Palazzo Fiuggi, Columbus Clinic Center, Tennis & Friends, Women Economic Forum Italy, BrainCircle Italy, AEON Foundation, and The Cure Alliance (Italy Healthspan Initiative), to advance scientific innovation, public understanding, policy engagement, and practical action aimed at extending healthy human life.

Through the new collaboration, HSAC and its Italian partners are creating a platform for cooperation across longevity and aging science, regenerative medicine, preventive health, education, convening, and public-policy dialogue. The alliance will connect investigators, clinicians, entrepreneurs, patient advocates, universities, foundations, women’s leadership networks, and public institutions in both countries and internationally.

Spearheaded by Camillo Ricordi, M.D., HSAC Chief Scientific Officer, the initiative connects scientific, civic, philanthropic, and institutional leaders around a shared global healthspan agenda. The collaboration reflects HSAC’s mission to deliver extended healthspan across the world.

“The science is moving rapidly toward a new paradigm: intervening earlier to identify invisible risk factors years before they progress toward disease, preserving function and preventing chronic illness by fully integrating predictive and preventive strategies. This will reduce the overburdening of a reactive health system already straining in the face of worldwide aging populations,” said Ricordi.

“This collaboration couldn’t come at a more urgent time,” said Bernard Siegel, JD, co-founder and executive director of HSAC. “It dovetails with our goal of improving the healthspan for all people, regardless of race, gender, geography or socioeconomic level. Nations across the globe need unprecedented measures to circumvent the potential social, humanitarian and economic problems of the coming aging tsunami by ensuring that health and vitality are achievable well into the older years.”

Marco Peronaci, the Italian Ambassador to the United States, said, “I am particularly pleased to see Italian scientific and civil-society organizations joining forces with their American partners in an initiative that places prevention, scientific evidence and international cooperation at its core.”

The initiative will be formally announced during the opening program of the Translational Longevity Summit in Boston, where Giovanna Iannantuoni, President of Fondazione Bicocca and a leader in academic, cultural, and international engagement, will deliver opening remarks recognizing the importance of an expanded Italy-United States partnership for healthspan. The upcoming Summit will take place October 7 - 11 at Harvard University’s new Enterprise Research Center in Boston, MA.

“Our overarching mission requires collaboration across disciplines, institutions, and national borders. This Italy-HSAC initiative is designed to bring scientific excellence together with public leadership, education, and implementation, so that advances in regenerative medicine, prevention, and longevity science can benefit people around the world,” said Iannantuoni.

A cross-border platform for healthspan

The partners will explore joint activities that may include:

International forums, conference programming, and expert exchanges on healthy aging, longevity science, regenerative medicine, and prevention.

Public education initiatives that communicate evidence-based approaches to healthspan in accessible language.

Connections among researchers, clinicians, academic institutions, foundations, policymakers, patient advocates, and responsible innovators.

Dialogue on policy, investment, and health-system strategies that support disease prevention, functional independence, and equitable access to emerging healthspan advances.

Opportunities to elevate women’s leadership, intergenerational engagement, and cross-sector participation in shaping the future of health and longevity.

“This is a historic moment in the field of healthspan,” said Siegel. “We’re deeply honored to be working with some of Italy’s most prominent health and longevity organizations on our shared goals for the good of people everywhere.”

An official part of Boston Longevity Week, the Translational Longevity Summit is produced under the Boston BioLife umbrella in collaboration with the Healthspan Action Coalition, World Stem Cell Summit and Regenerative Medicine Foundation.

The Translational Longevity Summit will bring researchers, healthcare professionals, patient advocates, policymakers, technology developers and investors together October 7-11, 2026, at Harvard’s Enterprise Research Campus.

Boston (Newsworthy.ai) Wednesday Sep 23, 2026 @ 6:00 AM Eastern —
Eleven years after Boston BioLife was established to help bridge the gap between emerging science and clinical medicine, the organization will bring that founding mission to a larger stage as co-presenter of the Translational Longevity Summit, taking place October 7-11, 2026, at Harvard’s Enterprise Research Campus in Boston.

Presented by Boston BioLife and the Healthspan Action Coalition as part of Boston Longevity Week, the five-day summit will convene leaders from science, medicine, technology, patient advocacy, policy and investment to examine how promising discoveries can be responsibly evaluated, translated and advanced toward meaningful clinical application.

Founder Joseph P. Krieger views the summit as a pivotal milestone for Boston BioLife's mission started in July 2015.

“When I founded Boston BioLife, the goal was to help physicians understand emerging science and determine how it could responsibly contribute to better patient care,” said Krieger. “Eleven years later, this summit gives us the opportunity to expand that conversation across the entire translational ecosystem-from researchers and clinicians to patients, policymakers and investors.”

Krieger’s path to Boston BioLife began with an education in biochemistry and a career in medical-device technology and physician training. While creating educational programs around radiofrequency ablation and other medical technologies, he recognized that successful clinical adoption required more than introducing a new device or discovery. Healthcare professionals needed to understand the underlying science, appropriate applications, limitations, regulatory considerations and patient-safety implications.

That realization became the foundation of Boston BioLife.

In a 2016 BioInformant interview, Krieger described the organization’s purpose as facilitating the understanding of life-science technologies in clinical medicine and helping move innovation from “bench to bedside.” He emphasized the importance of accurate research, regulatory awareness and patient safety-principles that continue to inform Boston BioLife’s educational mission today.

The Translational Longevity Summit extends that work into the rapidly evolving field of longevity. Discussions will explore aging, healthspan, regenerative medicine, personalized care and the scientific and practical challenges involved in moving new discoveries from research environments into responsible real-world use.

The summit will also emphasize cross-sector collaboration. Researchers, physicians, industry leaders, technology developers, patient advocates, policy voices and investors each play a role in determining how emerging science is studied, funded, regulated, understood and ultimately made accessible.

Patient participation will be an important part of that conversation. People living with illness and age-related conditions bring essential perspectives on urgency, daily function, treatment burden and unmet needs. Their involvement can help ensure that research, education and innovation remain connected to the people medical progress is intended to serve.

“Translation does not happen within a single laboratory, company or medical practice,” Krieger added. “It requires researchers, clinicians, patients, regulators, advocates and responsible industry partners to ask better questions together. That is the community we are bringing together in Boston.”

For a Massachusetts native who built his career near Boston’s medical, academic and scientific institutions, holding the summit at Harvard’s Enterprise Research Campus carries particular significance. The location brings Boston BioLife’s original educational mission into an environment created to encourage research, innovation and collaboration.

Eleven years after its founding, Boston BioLife’s purpose remains consistent: to help the healthcare community understand emerging science and evaluate its potential relevance to patient care.

In October, that enduring mission will bring a broader community together in Boston to address one of longevity medicine’s most important challenges: translating scientific promise into responsible, measurable progress.
